Okay Literary Homies, so as you know, book marketing and promotion is essential to being a successful author. You want to make sure that you have a plan that makes sense for your brand, as well as for your genre. Whether you’re creating it on your own, or working with a consultant, you want to make sure that you utilize all avenues to connect with readers.
With the internet being what it is, authors’ go-to plan is to use online platforms, such as social media to tell readers about their book. And you should do the same. However, you want to make sure that you connect with readers who may not come across your author platform online. Here are 4 ways you can market your book offline:
+ Connect with local readers by hosting signings, Q&A’s, and readings at local bookstores. + Make sure you let your local media outlets know about your book by scheduling some time to talk with them. + Find local book clubs or reader groups that you can meet up with and talk about your book. You can even offer some sort of incentive in exchange for a book review. + Schools like to have local authors talk to students. Look into finding a school that will let you come talk about the process of writing a book.
Now, if you already have your platform, and you’re connecting with readers on your social media platforms and your database (i.e. your mailing list), here are some additional ways that you can market your brand.
+ Create some videos talking about each chapter. Include a Q & A to allow your readers to interact with you.
+ Readers love freebies! Create some branded worksheets, templates, & discussion guides. This will make your readers feel connected to you as an author.
+ Offer other products and services that are in alignment with your brand. Remember, you goal is to build a relationship with your readers so that they’ll be interested in future books.
Marketing isn't a one-time thing, and you'll have to tweak your strategies to find the best method for you. Don't leave any stone unturned. You never know what will work!
